One sign that summer is at its peak are fresh summer berries. Here in Maine, we’re about a month behind all of my friends and family in the mid-Atlantic region (hello my brooklynites!), so strawberries will only be coming into their best here in mid-June, followed by raspberries, blueberries and boysenberries. While we wait we have plenty of time to whip up some fresh, fun, fabric strawberries in a basket!
In this class, students will focus on:
- practicing slow, precise stitching and edgestitching
- constructing and stuffing a three-dimensional shape
- utilizing freezer paper pattern pieces to cut small felt items
- handstitching (but only a little!)
- becoming familiar with interfacing types, weights and usage
You’ll be beyond thrilled with the final product! These sweet berries make great play food, especially for those summer birthday kiddos, or some fresh seasonal décor in your summer home. And if you stuff your berries with walnut hulls, they’ll make excellent pincushions!
Please join me in the Summer Berries and Basket class on Saturday, June 25th ,from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. You only need to bring your sewing machine (with it’s foot pedal, power cord, and accessories, of course) and I’ll provide all the other materials and supplies that you’ll need to create one pint-size basket and four luscious berries. Purchase a seat soon before spaces run out!
