Announcing the Tiny Log Cabin Pincushion Class!

Welcome to my first blog post at Holly McBride Workshop!

I’ve been hard at work these past few months, on so many great projects: our new blue house in midcoast Maine is almost finished construction, my shiny new brand and website (with a shop even!) is coming along nicely, and I’ve been developing a few new classes to teach at Clementine this summer!

One of the exciting classes I’ve developed is Tiny Log Cabin Pincushions! This is going to be such a fun class for anyone interested in quilting, but not really sure what’s involved. We’ll:

  • practice precise cutting
  • sew with a ¼” seam allowance
  • experiment with color
  • learn the method used to construct a log cabin quilt block.

Once we have our block made, we’ll make it three dimensional with gussets and stuffing, and sew it all closed with a ladder stitch.

Everything you need, besides a sewing machine, will be included in the class cost, and you’re going to love the fabric color combinations – so summery and fresh!** This is a great project for an experienced beginning sewer – that’s someone who’s sewn a few simple projects and is familiar with their machine – and this pincushion will be such a beautiful and useful addition to your sewing space! Plus, this can be the starting point for so many other great projects: the whole pattern can be scaled up to create cushions and pillows, or the block alone can be increased in size to begin your first one-of-a-kind quilt.

I plan to schedule this class for June within the next few weeks, and you’ll be able to purchase it through my new web shop. If you have any questions about the process of purchasing registration online, please send me an email while I work on a “FAQ” and “Shop Policies” page; I’d love to hear from you and answer any questions you might have!

I’m really looking forward to meeting you soon!

**Please note that the colors represented in this sample are not necessarily the colors that will be available in your kit!
